The Sun Robotics Six Cities REAL-estate Challenge introduces a new model in distributed real estate development, sustainability, technology, and social sponsorship, which puts the demands of the global traveler to work for the welfare of the global citizen.
The REAL-estate Challenge is a sister campaign to the Six Cities Solar High Rise Challenge, a global competition in architecture, urban design, and sustainable technology integration. Together these campaigns challenge the nature of urban production and consumption, presenting a new standard for micro-market driven cooperative development and energy-positive building.
The Six Cities Solar High Rise Competition calls for project proposals on the scale of the urban high rise which utilize the MICROTRACK” module in pursuit of a new vision of high-volume architectural urban solar harvesting and flexible habitation. The Six Cities Challenge asks architects and designers to re-imagine the infrastructural, financial, and socio-urban context of Tokyo, London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and New York, and to plug into it. The competition aims to challenge and evoke the capacity of architects to engage both with emerging technologies and existing infrastructural realities in a way that serves the future of collaborative design and the well being of the global population.
Using the southern facade of 20 stories, this new architectural vision for the zero-emission urban tower produces an annual average power output of over 367 MWh, a volume in excess of the energy demands of the tower itself. Offsetting the tower’s total cost of production and proving not only the possibility of high-volume architectural urban solar production but also its economy and its beauty!
